What is new?

Live transcription with speaker attribution is coming soon to Microsoft Teams. The transcription feature will capture the text version of your call and save it for later use. This feature can be turned on via the control bar within the call window. Call participants will be notified that live transcription has been turned on and they will be able to hide it from their meeting view. If participants choose to not be identified, they can turn off speaker attribution in their profile settings.

The person who starts the call recording is deemed to be the owner of the recording. The owner will be able to access the saved recording file in Stream and will also receive an email notification when the recording is processed. The call recording is also posted in a group chat which both participants can access.

What are the benefits?

The new transcription feature provides convenience and accessibility for participants who find it easier to follow conversations with visual prompts. Live transcription also alleviates ambient noise situations, by helping participates to follow the conversation and understand who is speaking. Employees who need to record calls for certain conversations, such as financial transactions can benefit as well.
